It’s hard to believe, but it’s been ten years since the first airing of the PBS FrontLine special, From Jesus to Christ. We keep a permanent link to the site on the links page on the North Prospect Union website. It is said that the website for the program still receives many thousands of hits every year. That’s very understandable, since the website has a large set of excellent resources.
Perhaps spurred by the interest in the NOVA show we are currently studying, The Bible’s Buried Secrets, PBS is re-airing From Jesus to Christ this month. It is on channel 44 on December 5 at 7:30 and channel 2 on December 9 at 7:30. You can also watch the segments on the program’s website.
It is a 4 hour special that traces the story of Jesus from his earthly life to his becoming known as the Christian messiah, the Christ. Some have noted that the preacher (the earthly Jesus) became what was preached (Christ, crucified and risen). It is a fascinating show which, like The Bible’s Buried Secrets, brings the light of scholarly study to shine on the development of our faith.
I can heartily recommend the program and website to you, and I would like to offer a study group on the program after the Holidays, if there is enough interest.
